The Reading Eagle (now abbreviated as "Reading Eagle") is a daily and Sunday newspaper published in Reading, Pennsylvania.
History
The "Reading Eagle" was founded in 1868 and belongs to the same family since then. However the "Reading Eagle Company" has filled for bankruptcy protection early 2019 and its assets sell to "Digital First", a chain specialized in the repurchase of newspapers previous possessions.
The "Reading Eagle" has published many comics - as well in its daily as its Sunday publications -. So a banner, saying that the newspaper has "Biggest Comics Section in the Land", was proudly featured in the Sunday comics section. It can be fully understood when it is considered that so many of classical comics found their way through the pages of the Sunday supplement, like -just to name a few: "Prince Valiant", "The Phantom", "Tarzan", "Blondie", "Wizard of Id", "Peanuts", "Pogo", "Beetle Bailey", "Dick Tracy", "Little Annie Rooney", "Scorchy Smith". "Terry and the Pirates", "Buz Sawyer", "Captain Easy", "Little Orphan Annie", "Tim Tyer's Luck", "The Lone Ranger", "Joe Palooka", "Archie", "Johnny Hazard", "The Heart of Juliet Jones"...
"Mandrake the Magician" daily strip and Sunday strip have been published in "The Reading Eagle" from September 9, 1935 to at least December 2008 (probably later), which is probably the longest uninterrupted continuity of the series publishing in newspapers.
