King Comics was published by David McKay Publications from 1936 to 1949. It was a compilation of newspaper strip reprints such as "Mandrake the Magician", "Brick Bradford", "Popeye", "Henry", "The Lone Ranger", "Blondie", "Prince Valiant" and "The Phantom". King Comics reprinted Sunday pages of Mandrake in ## 1 to 147.
After the end of the series (# 155, November-December 1949), four more issues (numbering #156 to 159) were published by "Standard: Best Books, Inc." /"Standard Comics; This is a King Feature" between March 1950 and February 1952, under the logo King Comics.
