Formed in 1894,The Schenectady Gazette was based in Schenectady, New York. It covered the counties of Schenectady, Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Fulton, Schoharie, and Montgomery.
On January 1, 1990, the newspaper title changes as "The Daily Gazette" and a Sunday edition was launched on September 9, 1990.
Under these two titles, a 56 years long run of "Mandrake the Magician" daily strips were published from April 25, 1938 to June 5, 1993
