Story
Story was Belgian weekly popular tabloid comic published from 1945 until 1951. It was published in Brussels by the "Editions du Pont-Levis". Like many Belgian magazines, it was also published in a Flemish / Dutch version.
History
From the issue #1 on June 21, 1945 one find "Mandrake the Magician" alongside the usual American comics of the review like – amongst others - "The Katzenjammer Kids", "Popeye", "Big Ben Bolt", "Tim Tyler’s Luck", "Flash Gordon", "The Phantom", "The Lone Ranger", as well as some Belgian or Dutch comics.
In the French edition was named "Mandrake roi de la magie" and in the Dutch version he had several names "Mandrake koning der toovenaars", "Mandrake koning der tovenaars" and "Mandrake de wonderman".
Apart the comics, published in colour for most of them, half of the magazine consisted of articles written about film, new writing and games. The issues were also glued together to form thirteen separate albums from the issues #1 to the issue # 301. In 1948 one also find 2 issues of a second album serie (Série no 1 / 1ste Reeks) where issues # 161 to the issue # 180 were glued together.
