Annibale Casabianca was an Italian artist, being a cartoonist, painter, designer, illustrator, graphic designer.
Biography
He was born in Rome (Italy) on November 10, 1929.
He attended the "Liceo Artistico" (= artistic lyceum) in Rome but, later, abandoned his studies at the "'Accademia di belle arti" (= Academy of Fine Arts). At the age of twenty three, made his debut in the world of comics by drawing a story of "Piccolo Bart" for Casa Editrice Adriana
In the 1950s he multiplied his collaborations with various comic book publishers, working on the "Albi Condor" series (1955-1957), "Frugolino", "Miciolino", "Mike Lazos","Capitan Sparviero" . He has collaborated with the magazines "Bimbebelle", "L'Astronauta", "Albi Romoletto" and ... also worked for French editors for series "Jaleb Le Telepathe", "Larry Cannon", "Galax" and "Yataca") and for UK editors (western and war stories for "Fleetway" magazines such as "Battle Picture Library" and" War Picture Library". In the Sixties he works on the series Il Cavaliere d Della Chimera (1963), Fantax (1964), Dany Coler (1965), Crimen (1966), I Serpenti (1967-68). Under the pseudonym Ancas he collaborated with Vittorio Corte .
In 1972 and 1973, he collaborated with the "Studio Giolitti", founded by Alberto Giolitti, that for creating stories of Mandrake and "L'Uomo mascherato" "The Phantom" comic books published by the Italian publisher Fratelli Spada before participating in the adult series "Cosmine" (1973-1974). He dies at the age of eighty-nine in Rome (Italy) on February 13, 2019.
