Note

During a robbery in Nørresundby on September 25, 1947, the young son of the house was shot and killed. The robber was a 20 year old man, who lived at home with his parents and had a good salary on his own. This senseless robbery and murder caused the chief of the Nørresundby, Knud Bache, to write a letter to the newspapers. Where he blamed the bad influence the sickly interest in crimes and eroticism reflected in films, magazines and comics had on the young people.

In response to Bache's letter, the Nationaltidende asked the readers' views on the comics in the newspaper. 1838 readers responded on the Mandrake strip in the newspaper, where 11 readers wanted the strip to continue. The rest did not want it in their newspaper, and Mandrake ended in Nationaltidende with only two stories published.
