Mondadori was founded in Ostiglia (Province of Mantuain, Italy) by the 18-year-old Arnoldo Mondadori in 1907 and is now one of the biggest publisher in its country where "Mondadori" publishes books and newspapers but also around the world.

As far as comics field is concerned, in 1936 "Mondadori" reached an agreement with Walt Disney , which led the publishing house to publish Disney productions in Italy even if, at the time, the rights for the Mickey Mouse character were in the hands of Giuseppe Nerbini who since 1932 had published the stories in the weekly magazine "Topolino" and was then forced to sell these rights to "Mondadori", the latter continued the publication of "Topolino".
