Les Editions des Remparts was a French comics publisher, founded in 1946 in Lyon - the third-largest city of France -, which published many Mandrake comics during the 1960's and 1970's. However the issues were printed in Italy by Fratelli Spada and were simply translated versions of those published by the latter. The French editor ensured the distribution in France and his publications were also available in French speaking countries like Belgium, Morocco. The "Editions des Remparts" issues were distribued in Quebec (Canada) through "Presses Select Limitée" a publishing society in Montreal. About 600 such Mandrake issues have been released.

At the same period, "Les Editions des Remparts" have also published similar series for The Phantom ("Le Fantôme" in French) as well as some reprints of American comics classicals in their own series ("Flash Gordon", “Prince Valiant”).

Like in the "Fratelli Spada" editions, many backup titles can also be found in the French "Mandrake" and "Le Fantôme" series published by "Les Editions des Remparts": "Big Ben Bolt", "Raoul et Gaston" ("Tim Tyler's Luck"), "Audax" ("King of the Royal Mounted"), "Luc Bradefer" ("Brick Bradford"), "Rip Kirby", "Johnny Hazard" "Agent secret X-9" ("Secret Agent X-9"), "Cisco Kid", "Flash Gordon" , "Undersea Agent", "Agents Tonnerre" (T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents"), "The Twilight Zone", "Cheyenne Kid", "Steve Canyon", as well as Italian comics production...
