Fictional Character Biography
One day, Lothar receives a telegram asking[1] him to meet Karma, the daughter of one of his distant cousins, at the airport. He was also asked if he could help her get settled and find a job. He remembered her vaguely, as a dumpy kid with braces and pimples - fairly dull and stupid. But when Lothar met her again he immediately became smitten. When Karma arrived, the flight crew titled her as a princess, and Lothar said[1][2] that she was his fourth cousin.
Karma was offered[2] to stay in the guest room at Xanadu and when she visited Jed at Inter-Intel she asked if he had a job for her. She had been a singer, but also had second degree judo black belt, speak five languages. She found[2] an apartment near Inter-Intel and was to start her training. It is not mentioned that she completed the training, but she herself said[3] that she would soon begin her work at Inter-Intel. But there are no stories that show that she actually ever worked at Inter-Intel.
Karma was also involved[4] in the woman liberation movement and even got Narda arrested for picketing without a permit.
When Mandrake introduces Karma to some reporters, he says[5] that Karma is Lothar's third cousin and daughter of Ngonomu, the president of Federated Nations. He also said that she was a hard-working woman, but did not mention what kind of work she did.
Karma has[6] a brother, Willy, who is known as the famous rock star Willy-Wow. Interestingly, Karma says that her ancestors came from an island that appears to be in the Caribbean.
There are things that indicate that Karma has a slight problem with her memory. Several times when Mandrake tells stories to Karma, Narda and Lothar, Karma expresses that the stories are new to her. Even though she was present when the stories happened. And, after being Lothar's girlfriend for a while, she is surprised when Mandrake tells[7] her that Lothar is an African prince.
