The first Don Heck’s works were done for Harvey Comics in 1949. He joined Charlton Comics in 1954. During his 40-year career, he has worked for publishers "DC", "Dell", "Gold Key" and remains known as the co-creator of Marvel Comics characters such as "Iron Man", "Hawkeye", and "Black Widow". He was also as “ghost” artist on "The Phantom newspaper strip.
He did the pencil work for 3 stories of Mandrake in the King Comics series, and inked one. It seems that he also drew the cover of the issue #1 of the series.
He is known to have assisted Sy Barry and Joe Giella on the "The Phantom" newspaper strip.
