Germano Ferri was an Italian comics artist. He worked as penciller, inker and colorist.

Biography

Germano Ferri was the most popular and the most productive artist that produced Phantom stories for Fratelli Spada in Italy. For Mandrake he did several covers and one Mandrake story, which he presumably wrote himself.

Born in 1936, he graduated from the "Accademia di Belle Arti" (= "Academy of Fine Arts") in Rome in the early 1960's, with inspirations to illustrate movie posters.

His debut in comics came in 1962 for "Fratelli Spada" with the thought of working on cover art for their various comics, however they employed him to illustrate full comic strips.

His collaboration with the publisher ended, he returned to Pesaro (region of Marche), his hometown, and devoted himself to teaching art at the "Mengaroni Art Institute" (="Mengaroni Art Institute").

From 1990 to 2012, Germano Ferri returned to work on "The Phantom", this time in cooperation with Romano Felmang, in the Swedish Fantomen magazine.

Germano Ferri passed away at the age of 85 on December 19, 2021.
