"Vendetta attraverso i secoli" is an Italian made Mandrake story from 1968.

Plot summary

Mandrake, Narda and Lothar are on holiday and take a walk in the town's bazaar where Lothar is mentally drawn towards a shop. He finds an old manuscript which he takes with him to the hotel and while Mandrake and Narda go to the theater Lothar reads through the manuscript.

When Mandrake and Narda return they find Lothar in a confused state where he knocks Mandrake down and escapes out the hotel window.

Mandrake and Narda discover that the manuscripts are a tale of a pirate leader, Tolar, who fell out of favor and tried to poison the pirate town's drinking water. When he was apprehended, he swore that he would return for revenge. Mandrake sees a picture of Tolar, he discovers that Lothar and Tolar look exactly the same - and that Tolar is an anagram of Lothar (Lotar in Italian). Mandrake realizes that Lothar has been hypnotically drawn into the story and that Tolar (through Lothar) is now seeking revenge.
