Plot summary

Mandrake, Narda, Lothar and Mandrake's sister are aboard Sir Harry's sailboat somewhere in the Pacific Ocean.

In the Himalayan mountains, two monks find a figure in the snow. Based on his clothing, they assume he is a monk and take him with them to their temple. When the figure comes to life, they discover that he is not a monk, but the evil Cobra.

The Cobra immediately takes over the temple and transforms the monks into faceless slaves and devises a plan, a plan to take revenge on Mandrake and eventually rule the world. Using black magic, the Cobra summons Rasputin and Cagliostro. The Cobra locates Mandrake aboard Sir Harry's sailboat, whereupon Rasputin and Cagliostro summon Ammon's storm. Mandrake quickly realizes that the sudden storm is due to black magic from the Cobra, and he calls upon Elam-Irasu to ask for help in calming Ammon's storm. Elam-Irasu mixes some olive oil and flour, and pours it into the troubled sea, calming the storm.

Mandrake orders the sailboat to the nearest port and makes a mental journey to his old master at the magic school to ask for help against the Cobra's evil magic. Once in port, Mandrake and his company begin the long journey to the magic school. Together with the master and his students, Mandrake begins the mental battle against the Cobra.

They manage to force the spirits of Rasputin and Cagliostro into a lamp and free the faceless slaves of the Cobra. The Cobra flees up the mountain, slips and falls. Mandrake assumes that the Cobra died in the fall, but is not entirely sure.
