Gene d'Angelo (1924-2021) was an American artist.
Biography
Gene d'Angelo was an American comics colorist. Beginning his career at "King Features Syndicate shortly after his World War II military service, he originally worked pasting down "Ben-Day dot" [1] patterns on daily strips like "The Phantom", "Brick Bradford", "Mandrake the Magician" and "Flash Gordon" before becoming staff colorist for the same series on their Sunday color pages, even if he generally worked the humor strips like "Hagar the Horrible", "Hi and Lois", "Blondie" and "Beetle Bailey". After 1977, he joined the "DC Comics" coloring team. He worked for numerous DC Comic-book series like "Superman", "Action Comics", "New Adventures odf Superboy", 'Justice League of America", "World's Finest Comics"... [2]
- Jim Keefe worked with him briefly before becaming his successor when Gene d'Angelo left the "King Features Syndicate" staff in the eighties.
