Eduardo Carlos Pereira - also known by his pen name of Edú - is a Brazilian artist, born in Belenzinho (part of the São Paulo city).
He started his artistic career in 1965, at the age of 18 years, as a cartoonist for "Diários e Emissoras Associadas" also creating there his first character, "O Arbustinho" before joining, in 1970, the publishing company "Saber" held by brothers Bértolo and "Savério Fittipaldi" and drawning covers for their comic-books, such as "Brucutú" ("Alley Oop"), "Tim e Tom" ("Tim Tyler Luck"), Mandrake, o Mágico" ("Mandrake the Magician"), "Zé, O Soldado Raso" (from "Beetle Bailey"), Fantasma ("The Phantom"),"Dick Tracy", "Brick Bradford"...
In 1971, for "Super Plá (magazine)", he created two comics characters "Dr. Estripa" and "Praça Atrapalhad" before to be meber of the Disney team at "Editorial Abril". He also drew characters from the studio "Hanna and Barbera" such as the "Pink Panther".
In the following years, Eduardo Carlos Pereira worked for various publishers ("Editora Ática" with "Luminoso" and with the "Vaga-Lume Collection", Editorial Saber with "Big Musculus"). He had also illustrated several books about Brazilian history.
