Belonging to the William Randolph Hearst's newspaper chain, "The Chicago Herald-American" was a newspaper merged in 1939 from "The Chicago American" and "The Chicago Herald-Examiner". It continued as the Chicago Herald-American until 1953 when it became the "Chicago American" before this latter was bought by the "Chicago Tribune" in 1956 and renamed as "Chicago's American" in 1959. Headquarters for the paper were located in the Hearst Building, 326 West Madison Street in Chicago.
