Tarzan is a Swedish comic book. A total of 85 issues were published by Serieförlaget in 1951 and 1954.
Issue overview
Regular series
Serieförlaget released the first issue of the "Serietidningen Tarzan" series on September 26, 1951. The magazine was released every other Wednesday until December 29, 1954. A total of 85 issues were released, with the issue 16-17/1953 as a double issue. From issue 21/1952 the magazine dropped the prefix Serietidningen (The comic book) on the cover and the magazin title became "Tarzan". The last issue has the title "Tarzan med Stjärnmagasinet" before the magazine became "Stjärnmagasinet med Tarzan".
The main character in the magazine was "Tarzan" in serialized form. The first story was made by Nick Cardy, followed by stories by Bob Lubbers, and the last twelve issues was by Burne Hogarth. The other comics were also in serialized form, such as: "Buffalo Bill" by Fred Meagher, "Djungel-Jim" by Alex Raymond, "Gula örnen (American Eagle)" by John Severin, Bill Elder", "Höken ((Blackhawk))" by Reed Crandall, "Jed Cooper" by Richard Fletcher, "Lasso Kid (Lazo Kid)" by John Severin and Will Elder, "Mandrake (the Magician)" by Lee Falk and Phil Davis, "Skogspatrullen" by Einar Lagerwall, "Tom Mix", "Örnöga". The magazine also had prose stories in serialized form, like: "Djungelboken (The Jungle Book)" by Rudyard Kipling.
Tarzan issues with Mandrake stories
The magazine printed two stories with Mandrake in 1954: "Den hemliga strålen (The Amazing Ray )" and "Den mystiske prins Zombaga (The Mysterious Prince)".
