The Chicago Herald-American was an American newspaper that published "Mandrake" daily strip and Sunday strip from 1935 (as "The Chicago Herald-Examiner") to at least 1943 (last date formally known but probably later too).

Belonging to the William Randolph Hearst's newspaper chain, "The Chicago Herald-American" was a newspaper merged in 1939 from "The Chicago American" and "The Chicago Herald-Examiner". It continued as the Chicago Herald-American until 1953 when it became the Chicago American. Headquarters for the paper were located in the Hearst Building, 326 West Madison Street in Chicago.
