Plot synopsis

In the Deepwoods, Old man Mozz - the jungle storyteller - explains to Rex (the foster son of "The Phantom") and Tom-Tom (son of the Llongo chief, and best friend of Rex), that "The Cobra" got himself a painting representing "Flash Gordon", "The Phantom" and "Mandrake the Magician" together, image that blocks their powers. So they are literally ""Prisoners of a Painting" (in Italian = "Prigionieri di un quadro"). However this painting was stolen from "The Cobra"'s laboratory. But finally he learns that the powerful painting is now offered for auction at a Christie's meeting held on May 7,1992 in the Palazzo Massimo Lancellotti in Rome.

On specific request from the King Features Syndicate, Rip Kirby, came from New York to attend this sale and finally becomes the buyer of the painting. Shortly after "The Cobra", helped by Ming the Merciless and the General Bababu, grabs the painting. Fortunately Flash, The Phantom and Mandrake manage to take over the painting for their own benefit.
