"Il sottomarino corsaro" is an Italian made Mandrake story from 1962. "The Submarine Pirates" is original drawn as a war story. The story is edited a bit and pictures of Mandrake and Lothar are put into some of the panels. Several of the pictures of Mandrake and Lothar is lifted from Phil Davis art. Even the head of the pirates is lifted from the villain in The Dollmaker.
Plot summary
Three vessels have been torpedoed the last two weeks. A castaway is rescued. He said that some villains in a submarine torpedoed the ship, but first the kidnapp the crew.
A mysterious case and the police ask Mandrake if he could help. Soon Mandrake and Lothar are aboard a boat, as decoy. The submarien attack, and our friends are taken to a deserted island.
It turns out that the submarine pirates kidnap ship crews, to use them as slaves in the uranium mine on the island.
