"Super Giant" is the 142th Mandrake Sunday story. The story was written by Lee Falk and drawn by Fred Fredericks.
Plot Summary
Mandrake and Narda go to the museum to meet Alexis, the daughter of a deceased friend. Alexis introduces them to Phillipe, who claims to have made the most exciting discovery in the history of archaeology: the big toe bone of a 30 metre giant. Mandrake is immediately sceptical. Later, Mandrake, Narda and Lothar join Alexis, Phillipe and his henchmen in a secret valley, where they begin an excavation for more bones of the giants. Mandrake and Lothar decide to go for a walk while Narda takes a nap. Hours later, Alexis wakes Narda to show her their discovery - a full skull of the super giant! Mandrake and Lothar return from their walk but are prevented from getting close to the skull. Alexis prepares to hand Phillipe a cheque for her family fortune so he can buy up the valley, but Mandrake stops her. The skull is revealed to be a fake, constructed from barely-dry cement. Mandrake reveals that he realised the super-giant was a ruse when he and Lothar came across dry oil wells on their walk through the valley. Alexis confronts Phillipe, demanding to know how he could trick her. He tells her that the henchmen threatened him, and he planned to pay her back.
