The Burlington Hawk-Eye Gazette was a newspaper printed in Burlington, Iowa (Des Moines County).

(nb: The Hawk Eye is credited with giving Iowa its nickname as The Hawkeye State).

The newspaper traces its roots to the "Wisconsin Territorial Gazette and Burlington Advertiser", which was established in 1837, so it boasts itself as "Iowa's Oldest Newspaper."

"Mandrake the Magician" daily strips were published from February 5, 1945 (the continuing run remains to be determined as the latter date known being just a few months later: November 5, 1945...)
